Smart people don't care for mostly subjectivity in setting a playoff field.

If the playoff expanded, it would still be Clemson and bama

You can’t say that. Ohio State/Georgia could have beaten both if given the chance.

Without settling it on the field you can’t say that with 100% certainty.

Look at the NFL this year. No one is going to complain if the Eagles happen to pull of a miracle and make it to the Super Bowl this year. Tons of people will still watch.

Expansion will only help interest wise and in finding the best two teams.

You are correct it does not mean better games but it also does not mean we are going to get worse games.

I don’t know about Clemson but we already saw Georgia get their shot at Alabama and they blew it. Why should they get rewarded for choking? They might have got a rematch if they didn’t get throttled by LSU in October.

Ohio State blew their chance when they got killed by Purdue. Why is this so hard to understand? ND and OU were 100% deserving to be there. They got beat by two teams that were simply better.

Clemson and Alabama are the two best programs in the sport right now. Has been for years too. Deal with it.

They had their chance and literally blew it

So did Alabama last year

Why was this not an issue with Alabama in 2011,2017?

Basing the playoff discussion on individual year results is stupid. Some years, like this one, you could have a 2 team playoff and it's fine.

Other years, there are not two clearly superior teams. Unless you're willing to flex the total number of teams year to year, you'll be stuck including some teams with potentially weaker resumes or excluding teams with potentially stronger resumes.

For the "it should be two" crowd, was cutting Auburn a good decision in 04? Or USC in 03?

Some years there are 2 clear dominant teams, like this year. Others, you can have a mass of 5 with similar resumes.
