Evoldi is the first pitcher this season to go 8 innings.

Evoldi’s complete game today against the Reds was not only the first by a starting pitcher this season, but he was also the first to pitch at least eight innings.

Teams are just now starting the second time through rotations. Aces rarely go past 5 innings in a spring training game at most. To not have anyone go through 8 this early isn’t shocking anymore.
I love it. Kudos to them letting him complete the game. Although his low pitch count I’m sure was reason #1, not his precise dealing today.

He has to do it all by himself with that bullpen.

It’s not because they can’t or they don’t want to… place the blame for soft players in all sports on the front offices

Eovaldi was outstanding under the pressure situation of a one run lead on the road, so he deserves much credit.
Obviously, it is pretty rare to see a complete game these days and the game has changed very much over the years in this regard.

He was amazing side to side. Challenged De La Cruz for the final out after his massive game the day before and made him look dumb.
You do not know what you are talking about.

The Complete Game…. Talk about some records that will never be broken….

Leiter looking like an ACE today (and last start). deGrom also looked like an ACE.
Rangers have multiple ACES.
Rocker got rocked.

He’s not going the full game if his pitch count wasn’t that low lol
It’s ok to find the truth in certain situations even if if you get your feelings hurt becuase you think someone said something mean about your team lol

I misunderstood then.
I thought you were insinuating his ‘stuff’ was irrelevant to the decision and was largely made on pitch count.

on an unrelated note I heard today Evan Carter who helped the Rangers win the WS is struggling mightily in the minor leagues

You kinda misunderstood me. I wasn’t insulting the Rangers or Nate Dog however.
But had he been at 112 pitches after 8 innings in second start of season, he is not coming back out in the 9th.
It’s all about protecting and preserving the arms today. No GM, front office, manager, or pitching coach is going to get the stigma of over working a pitcher anymore.
Hence, pulling Leiter after 5 tonight. 1 hit. 70 pitches. No chance for a quality start.

Leiter was pulled because of a blister.
