Press Release

The multi-part documentary will feature hours of never-before-seen footage of the ‘86 Mets team, a team of larger-than-life characters whose exploits on and off the field symbolized a unique moment in time for New York City and baseball history.

There's no date on it yet, but between Keith, Doc and Darryl this will be interesting.

If you haven't read Jeff Pearlman's book The Bad Guys Won, I highly suggest it

Bunch of myopic New York City fricks that work for ESPN don't think there's enough.

These are the same idiots who made a "30 for 30" about Madison Square Garden in the 70s, clearly violating the parameters of the "ESPN Era" rule.

Yep. I suspect the book is better than what the doc will show. Now, I'm sure the Mets weren't the only team in 1986 that had a bunch of degenerates in their ranks, but it pulls the curtain back on how pro athletes really act. They aren't highly dedicated professionals in bed for good rest before a game the next day. They would play a night game. Go out after, getting completely hammered on drugs and alcohol until 7:00 - 8:00 am. Go back home or to the hotel. Sleep all day. Roll up to the stadium for a night game. Down a handfull of amphetamines. And do it all over again that night.

The Cardinals owned the 80's Mets.

They had the "stars" and Herzog ran them into the dust with defense, Coleman, Smith and McGee.

That team was loaded:
Strawberry, Gooden, Carter, Knight, Dykstra, Darling, HoJo, Mookie, K. Mitchell, etc.
