And pats themselves on the back for the Committee's decision.

1. People always watch the Rose.
2. It was a semifinal.
3. Casual fan will tune in to watch Bama lose.
4. Michigan has a huge fanbase.
5. What else was on?

Frick whoever is in charge of those kickoff times though. The Rose was perfect for its time slot. The Sugar Bowl should have kicked off at noon central. The NFL gets great ratings in the exact same time slot. That also ensures there isn't a playoff game that ends at 12:02 A.M. Central time. My buddy in North Carolina stayed up as late as he could but halfway through the 3rd quarter he passed out. The game ended there at 1:02 in the morning. That's obsurd. College football is screwing up enough things as it is. Quit making it harder for your viewers to enjoy your product, or at least what's left of it.

So Alabama lost and you are still bitching because so many people tuned in to watch them lose? Seek some help.

Why do you care about ratings?

I'm always curious if there's any trickery with these numbers. In the past the game was on one channel. But now you can find it at least five different ways. Are they lumping all of those numbers together?

Well they picked the participants to the invitational based on ratings so I guess they got what they were after

The fact that they weren't on new years eve helped the ratings I think. I always hate them being on that day. Much prefer them new years day.

Great question that I never thought about. Really curious as to the answer. My guess is they do lump all of those numbers together.

I agree with everything in your post. There is no excuse for a game to kick off that late in the evening on a weekday. I didn't even have to get up for work the next morning and even I passed out around midnight. Going forward, have one semi-final game kick off at 1:00 eastern and the second semi-final game kick off at 5:30 eastern. That way you have plenty of time to end the first match up and start the pre-game hype of the second match up.

It also all but assures the last game ending around 9:30 eastern at the latest.

No, they shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
