Why do coaches keep their regular offensive lineman on the field? Shouldn’t coaches get five more of their best athletes in the game to play the role of lineman?

I know there’s still no to little chance of the play working.

Don’t OL have to have certain jersey numbers to distinguish themselves?

Can’t do that without number changes.

You have to have 5 players in ineligible numbers on the field (50-79) unless it’s a scrimmage kick. So if it was 4th down I suppose you could do it but player taking the snap has to be a certain depth (punter on punt formation for example)

Edit: I’m not sure the depth of the person taking the snap on a scrimmage kick matters unless they’re passing the football. Rules get messy with eligible players downfield and everything

Make this happen. 11 skill players, Rugby Sevens style.

Shouldn’t all collegiate OL just be able to opt out on the last play of the game?
