Seems like the norm now is to be in the last year and if your team sucks, just buyout and go to a contender. Is this a problem for you all? It’s happening too much now in the NBA.

It has helped foster the new mindset, where a team can have multiple max players. They way the salary structure was constructed, every team was only supposed to have one max level player, maybe two if they were both lower years of service. Vets taking lower contracts and short, minimum deals to win a ring has distorted the players value. The players are losing bargaining position due to this and they don't see how much it is harming them. How many guys have walked away from supermax deals?

The nba needs to 1. Get rid of max contracts and 2. Get a nfl style hard cap. No more luxury tax or bird rules,

Players can only sign 5 year deals with the team that drafted them. 4 with a team if they were traded directly from their drafting team to the team they are (re)signing with. 3 if with a team they weren’t drafted by or traded to by their drafted team.

Builds loyalty, prevents super teams and will actually make the league profitable and sustainable again.

Yes it’s frickin stupid. If you get bought out, you should not be allowed to sign anywhere until next season.

They need to remove a max contract like you said.

The incentives to stay makes more sense financially

Don't really see the problem. Unless I'm forgetting someone it's never had a real impact and makes the quality of play in the playoffs a little higher.

" Loyalty" ? Then one can be ' loyally' traded 6 months after signing a Max contract like Blake Griffin. Sounds like you simply want more owner control.

I care about the name on the front of the jersey not the back. Those come and go.

Well, they are the owners and they sign the paychecks. Too bad so sad.

He’s not playing for the mid level exception. There ain’t much difference between 72 and 75 million a year. Especially when a third is taken by Uncle Sam anyways.
