I thought it was interesting when ESPN ran a story with that slant a few months ago. I believe Dana White appropriately called them on that... by pointing out ESPN was televising boxing matches in which the fighters were being compensated at a small fraction of the appearance fees his fighters receive.

That piece was such a joke

Well if they make mroe than a mil a fight it's defintely because of endorsement, because Dana White screws the shite out of these fighters.

Does he now? The UFC has paid over 40 fighters at least one million dollars. Ignore disclosed pay to athletic commissions.

Also, the guys who make big money off of endorsements are in that position because of Dana and the UFC.

I think the bare minimum to show is either $6,000 or $8,000. Then they at least double that up with a win. That's more than many make in 6 months

What isn't figured into that is UFC is one company in the sport, the biggest and best, it's centrally owned and operated and has licensing, PPV, and broadcast deals.

This doesn't include all of the little outcrop indies that do pay their guys anything, and a good purse might be a couple hundred bucks to a couple thousand for a casino show with a sponsor.

It isnt accounted for because the OP specifies the UFC as the ones underpaying fighters.

according to sites, he has a net worth of 4 million
They are wrong. Since the UFC is a private company, they don't have to disclose a lot of what they pay the fighters. Only the purse.

But the UFC showed the world exactly what Randy Couture makes per fight back in 2007 when he was in a legal dispute with the UFC. This is the PPV pay scale from 6 years ago in addition to the fighter's purse. The headlining fighters get a cut of the PPV revenue:

Less than 100,000 buys: No money
100,000-175,000 buys: $1.00/buy
175,000-300,000 buys: $1.50/buy
300,000-330,000 buys: $2.00/buy
Over 330,000 buys: $3.00/buy

Jon Jones' last fight was against Vitor Belfort at UFC 152. The event sold 450,000 pay-per-views. Using this ppv pay scale, Jones would have made:

Purse: $400,000
Sub of the night bonus: $65,000
$1.00/buy: $75,000
$1.50/buy: $187,500
$2.00/buy: $60,000
$3.00/buy: $360,000

Total: $1,147,500

That last $3 per buy is the big one. Jones sold only 450,000 in his last fight. If he did GSP numbers like 700,000 like Jones did for his fight with Rashad Evans, he'd be making over 3 million per fight.

Jones has way more than a 4 million dollar net worth. And that is using a 6 year old PPV pay structure. It may have changed by now.

And that isn't even including his endorsements with Nike, Bud Light, the UFC itself, and various MMA companies.

Also, I saw a video a year or so ago with Josh Koscheck showing us around his house. He shows us his cars and he has like 2 or 3 really expensive cars that he said the UFC gave him.

So they are obviously getting compensated well beyond what we know.

Not at all. Not everyone can be a prize fighter, but any goober with a gym bag and tap out shirt is a mixed martial artist in training.

Not every boxer is a prize fighter. MMA is going through the same huge boom that boxing did after Rocky when every white guy wanted to be a boxer and that Karate did after The Karate Kid when every kid wanted to be Ralph Machio

No.
Remember, mma has only been around here for about 20 years. Compare that to boxing.
Also, the best fighter (s) will make a LOT more than $5-15 mil their entire career (s).

Here is another story just recently of the UFC giving a brand new Ford Saleen truck to Glover Teixeira:

He's 3-0 in the UFC. It's not like he's some big-name fighter.

I think UFC pays their fighters fine but I can't imagine going up in the ranks in the weaker promotions with shitty pay and bad refs who you need to rely on saving you if you are submitted or knocked out.
