The Satchel Paige thread got me thinking about this movie..
One of the funniest movies ever (even though it was a drama)
Tommy Lee Jones as Cobb is fantastic. And his response to each of these players (all time greats) are hilarious as well.
Now Willie you know thats horseshite!
And the dude final response to Cobb
And who could forget great quotes in the movie like this..

And you sir, you should leave this disgusting, wretched, sorry son of a motherfricker - immediately. Good evening.
And who could forget great quotes in the movie like this..
quote:
The South may never rise again, but my dick will.
quote:
Louis Prima: With all the great players playing ball right now, how well do you think you would do against today's pitchers?
Ty Cobb: Well, I figure against today's pitchers I'd only probably hit about .290
Louis Prima: .290? Well that's amazing, because you batted over .400 a... a whole bunch of times. Now tell us all, we'd all like to know, why do you think you'd only hit .290?
Ty Cobb: Well, I'm 72 fricking years old you ignorant son of a bitch.

With that hesitation pitch, ole Satchel, would have your arse batting 220 and kissing his black arse.
quote:
Cobb: Cool Papa Bell my arse! Willie: Cool Papa Bell was so fast he hit a line drive up the middle and would up hitting himself in the head while sliding into 2nd base.

Such an angry man. I read on his wiki page that after his son flunked out at Princeton he went up there and pretty much took him to the woodshed.

It appears that many of these infamous cobb stories were fabricated, including the one where he killed a black man.

The one where he went into the stands and beat up a cripple wasn't.
Ty Cobb thinks America's reaction to "The Malice at the Palace" is a sign of our pussification.
