I'm guessing weather played a huge factor this year.
Red Sox game was cancelled yesterday.

Looked miserable. Heavy rain, 45 degree temps, and 25mph winds.

Most of the top ten women were Americans. Not sure about the men. I assume there were few as the broadcast is focusing on women.

Seems like at least in the female category, Americans are making a big comeback. Three streaks broken in major marathons in the last year.

6 US men in the top 10. The weather today absolutely wrecked the East Africans. Looking at their intermediate splits is painful.

Eh, not really. It's just that The top US marathoners recently have elected to run Chicago/NYC/Boston while the top international runners have shifted to racing in Berlin/London/Dubai/Amsterdam/Tokyo.

Wow, the last American woman to win the women's title was 1985.

Desiree Linden's time was the slowest since 1978.

They were unable to play it as it lies.

Americans fought through. Resiliency was our game.

Both the mens and womens times were the slowest in 30-40 years. It was miserable out there. Worse for the pros because they didn't have anyone to tuck in on and draft off of so it became a super slow and tactical race with nobody wanting to be in the front
