It’s probably one of the hardest jobs in FBS. There is no fan support. Foreign students make up a very high percentage of the student body, and the average Houston resident has no interest in going to a Rice game.

I've been to a Rice-Southern Miss game in Hattiesburg when Rice brought their band. I remember they were kinda like Stanford's band.

There needs to be a sticky thread for this question. 
There wasn't enough 6-win teams to fill the bowl spots. I think they even cancelled one bowl game. They used APR rankings to determine the 5-7 team to make a bowl game. IIRC, APR stands for "Academic Progress Rating".
