Coaches nowadays really seem to try to go for it on 4th down as much as possible. It didn't work this time (barring a bad Southern Miss turnover).

ETA: I mention the turnover bc when Southern Miss played ULL, ULL went for it on 4th and goal, got stopped at the 2, big stop ... Southern Miss turned it over on the very next play.

This is a big part of the analytics favoring going for it. Teams are much less likely to score on drives that they start inside their own 20.

That said, I would’ve kicked the field goal there.

The man with the biggest name-plate font in all of football with the big sack on first down!

I like USM’s comically large name plates with short names.

That was quite a pass on 3rd and 24.

SMU vs BYU is interesting.

SMU Coach is too arrogant to just ride the Senior Running Back Tyler Lavine to a methodical victory against an opt-out heavy BYU, so instead they keep running busted pass plays and keeping BYU right in it.

SMU-BYU was one of the toughest early picks for me.

I went BYU because SMU has struck me as a soft team every time I’ve watched them this year. BYU is missing so many guys though. The weather favors pounding the rock.

Give it to Lavine and work the clock.

Lashlee is channeling his inner McVay where he has to be "too cute" with personnel and plays.

What a run. Next year could be a really good year for us, Hall has us on a great trajectory. Needs to hire an OC, his calls still frustrate the hell out of me sometimes. Armstrong might be the next big coaching star

Had me worried for most of the 3rd and 4th quarter.

Heck, who am I kidding. I've seen enough Southern Miss games. I'm still concerned.
