Bregman needs to be sent down to the Triple-A affiliate in Sugar Land to learn how to play the game of baseball again. He is fully guaranteed $30.5 million dollars for this season and another $30.5 million for next season... he hasn't been worth half of that money.
one thing is for sure though, if only $15 million of that annual $30.5 million was guaranteed and the other half had to be earned via performance incentives... he would be putting in more effort to get it done.
Fully guaranteed contracts are the absolute worst and have created this type of problem with former star players falling apart....

Bregman has everything needed to be a consistent professional hitter in same mold as Brantley with a little more power.
He is stuck trying to be the $30 M guy we paid for after taking advantage of juiced balls and committing entirely to pulling the ball (only way he can hit it out)
He has good command of the strike zone, yet has been penalized more than any other player in MLB on called strikes outside of the zone.
Eventually something like that fricks you up.
He will either settle on a decent salary as a professional hitter and stay in Houston, or take market money and fail wherever he ends up.

I think Wagner can replace what we are getting from bregman offensively. Have no idea about defense but he's also been very injury plagued ans similar body type to bregman.
