I know this is only sort of related to the OP, but wholly crap would I be glad to be a Raiders player relocating to Vegas.
eta: Not trying to get political or anything, but damn that's a lot of saved money.

I mean if I’m Derek Carr though?
I’d rather stay in Cali
I’d rather stay in Cali

Why? What's your angle?
quote:
The Oakland Raiders were very shrewd in their contract negotiations with quarterback Derek Carr, selling him on the notion of millions of dollars of tax savings once the team makes its move to Las Vegas, per ESPN’s Darren Rovell.
Nevada is one of seven US states that do not currently have state income tax, meaning that Carr will net approximately $2 million more per season from 2019 on after the Silver and Black relocate to Sin City.
Shockingly, Carr will also net more after taxes “off a $20 million Nevada salary in 2019 ($11.54 million) than he’ll take home from a $22.5 million California salary in 2018 ($11.15 million),” per Rovell.
Despite the fact that the team’s new stadium will not be completed until 2020, it is highly likely they will play at UNLV’s Sam Boyd Stadium in 2019. That fact would mean that Carr should experience his massive tax breaks sooner, rather than later.
While the figures are massive for Carr regardless of tax breaks or not, he made sure that his deal was cap friendly enough that Oakland could lock up offensive guard Gabe Jackson to a five-year, $56 million deal shortly after Carr received his $125 million contract.

I don’t know the financials but I assume he’s well off enough
He seems like a real family guy connected to his family living in Cali
I’d also rather live in one of the SF suburbs than LV suburbs
Also would take the Bay Area weather too, along with schooling etc
22 year old me only making league minimum? Give me LV

I mean I don't doubt that he can afford it, but the more you talk about how much money he makes the more I'd be sold on moving to Vegas.. it can/will literally save him millions per year. Isn't that why Tiger Woods moved out of CA?
Again, I'm not trying to turn this into a political thread comparing state policies, but that's a lot of money that can be saved.

I never made it political either
But 2 million a year when you’re making 20 a year just doesn’t seem “that” massive to me
And as I’ve said, I’d rather live there than Nevada
But this is coming from me.
I get abused by taxes living in NYC. I could move back to Charlotte
But rather live here than Charlotte

Not sure how this thread got where it did
But Id rather live in Bay area than Nevada even with the tax implications if I was Carr
And most people agree. Its why the Bay area has a shite ton more people

I guess I should have said that wasn't really directed at you or that I thought you were getting political. I just wanted to make the point about how I'd personally be excited about all the tax savings and thought it was an interesting point about the move but didn't want people to think I was coming into an MSB thread looking to get into a fight over CA policies or whatever.

I get that impulse. I love being born and raised in SC and visiting but it'd take a lot to get me to move back from DC. Including if someone said to me "We know you're a millionaire and like DC... but you are literally losing millions of dollars for living here," I might have to think about relocation.

I also think my earning potential is much higher living here though as well

The take home is only $11 mill. It matters a little more then

11 mm is still a lot.
As I’ve said, I’d rather take home 11 mil and live in the Bay Area than Las Vegas
(If i were Derek carr)

How bout Ronald Ollie’s lazy arse getting cut pretty much instantly
Posted on 8/8/19 at 11:06 am to BCMCubs
That had to be the quickest cut in hard knocks history? Right?
Posted on 8/8/19 at 11:34 am to I Bleed Garnet
I cant remember folks getting cut in the first episode. My favorite Gruden part of the show. "Lets get the guys that dont want to be here out of here."

I liked Carr. It was an awkward dinner scene for sure. It was clear Carr did not like Abrams but he handled it well. He clearly looked at Abrams as immature and socially out of place. Carr looked like a normal husband and dad at home.
Ollie is a lazy idiot. Threw away an amazing opportunity.
Gruden is a loud mouth but he seems to be a good coach.
