So watching without sound or captions while at work. WTF happened? Did they just give the batter a do over? Made no sense at all what just happened.

went back to original call of foul ball... so it was treated as a foul ball

Ball originally ruled foul by third base ump. They come together say it is a fair ball (the right call) but than after replay they say call can’t be overturned. So the original call stands foul ball.

Only I think I can guess is when replay told them “call can’t be overturned” they misinterpreted that to mean the original call couldn’t be overturned
The replay was merely saying “replay can’t overturn whatever call y’all made on the field”…. Well the official call on the field was obviously fair after they consulted each other without replay

He hit a ball that hit the line past 3rd base. He ran to second. The blind ref that is having eye surgery after the season that is being paid for by the a-hole Whistlers called the ball foul. He was right there and the moron still called an obvious fair ball, foul.
Then the Ump who knew better overruled the BS call and said it was fair. But the powers that be said they cannot change a bullshite obvious fair ball that has been called foul by some idiot ref.
Today's bullshite against NC State is ruining what has been a great college world series up to this point

I'd be willing to bet CloseCallSports on YouTube will have a full breakdown of what happened with the exact verbiage from the rulebook and an explanation on this situation in the next day or 2

Oh you can absolutely overturn a foul ball on the field without replay if another ump says it was fair….and they did.
The “official” call on the field (after consultation) was fair ball
