The Cubs were in serious contention for him the first, depending on who you talk to the Cubs were first or second runner up....so there was something he liked.

And Suzuki is with the Cubs and I think they are buds so there's that.

If there's one player on the planet to go all in for....he's that one.

I don't know if the Cubs "won't be able to" but I do know that the Ricketts are a lot more conservative than Cohen, much of the time I think that's prudent, depending on contract length, player age, etc.

But in this case you go for it. Once in a lifetime.

That's the prevailing theory with most Asian players. The only reason I give the Cubs a minuscule chance is because he was very interested in the Cubs the first time through, and he and Seiya are buds. But yeah, as a Cub fan I'm not counting on it or anything.
