...or more to the point. What the frick are they doing in the Hall of Fame?

In nine years Hornung ran for 3711 yds. for an average of 412 yds a season.

In seven years Sayers ran for 4956 yds. for an average of 708 yds a season for teams that never sniffed an NFL Championship team.

By basis of comparison, Adrian Peterson has 4204 yds. in less than 3 full seasons.

Deuce McAllister has 6096 yds in 8 seasons, so certainly he'll be considered for the Hall.... RIGHT?

You compare players to other players in their own era, not to players in other eras.

You mean when Hornung and Sayers ran in the run first/pass second NFL of the 60's with 240 pound linemen and 5.0 dbs

I'm still waiting for you and Dukkev to enlighten me

ok, can you now post the special teams stats for Sayers? Also, please post how he ranked in the NFL in rushing, kick and punt returns, and all purpose yards for his first 5 seasons before he shredded his knee. He changed the game, but listing his body of work more accurately will be a good start.

Sayers was a great player whose carreer was cut short by injuries. He was one of the best RB's to ever play the game.

Horning was a very good RB who was helped immensely by playing on those great Packer teams of the 60's.

Sayers belongs in the Hall w/o question IMO.

Horning is debatable.

agreed. But, his part on the Packers dynasty, as well his contributions as a kicker make him more worthy than others with his numbers.

I will!! Sayers was a BEAST when he played. He was SO much better than the others players around him it was not even FUNNY. KINDA LIKE JIM BROWN. Hourning was good but NOT in Sayers class.

More important question: how can Donnie Shell NOT be in the Hall? Makes it hard to take it serial.

Again, I'll compare his numbers to McAllister whose career lasted about the same length.

Receiving Yds McAllister 1,720 for 212 avg.
Receiving Yds Sawyers 1,301 for 186 avg.

AP yards McAllister 8.931 Sayers 9435

Admittingly, I'm just throwing numbers out, but do you actually have anything to back that statement up other than parroting your uncles waxing nostalgic.

A sympathy vote for a promising but short career does not a true Hall of Famer make. Again see Deuce McAllister.
