Just checked Winsipedia. Was surprised they have played each other at all. SMU beat Liberty in 2016 (only game they have played). Think it would be a great series to get the two playing each other. Would not mind playing Tulane either.

I would not argue it. We only had one common opponent, Louisiana Tech. Not a good way to determine outcomes. Think it would be a close game that could go either way.
Let me be abundantly clear (I have stated this many times), I would not have been upset if Tulane (had they won) or SMU been selected for an NY6 over Liberty. I wanted us to use this season to recover from the debacle we experienced with the departure of Hugh Freeze (8-0 followed by 0-5). I think we are laying a great groundwork under Jamey Chadwell.
But I am being selfish when I say that I would have rather had a less challenging bowl and finishing the season at 14-0. But for whatever reason (despite our SOS) we were selected for the Fiesta Bowl. I am going to the game with the full realization we are probably going to lose, probably badly. But I am proud of them for bouncing back from how last year and the offseason went.

The person making stupid comments in this thread is the one arguing liberty’s schedule isn’t pathetic, accusing people of being fans of teams they aren’t, excludes conference championship game results for SMU while using them for liberty, thinks the fiesta bowl committee chose liberty for the game, etc.
Which one of those things have I done?

I agree, it’s not a hard concept to understand, they played the easiest schedule in the FBS and it doesn’t compare to the schedule SMU had.

Their schedule in previous seasons have no bearing on this year. Stop making this more than it is.
