re: Colt McCoy's legacy and injuries

Saban defenses always do that with their tendency to put CBs on islands, just sometimes they have the talent at corner to get away with a lot of the risk taking. Look at 2003 LSU vs 2004 LSU when Webster was hurt and Prude started.

What was exposed was the weakness of their secondary. They should not have allowed Shiply/Gilbert to do as much damage as they did.
That really makes you wonder what Colt could have done.
All those stats you just ripped off......came against a team trying to regroup and redefine itself with a new freshman QB in the freakin MNCG.
And yet, they make some huge plays anyways and made a game out of it.
So yeah..Bama's D (especially their secondary) got a little bit exposed last night.
exactly
ive been telling sectards on that board that their secondary was weak all season. after watching that game last night, mccoy was the last thing they wanted to see, bc while he is not a starstudded qb by any means, he is deadly accurate and would have derailed that secondary last night

Shipley's first TD came after he beat both the corner and the safety over top. There were two defenders and he blew right by both of them.
Shipley's second TD came on Robbie Green, who plays safety.
Catch that Lester?

got exposed, please....
Like I said...........
If you told me that Colt would get knocked out of the game, and Texas would bring in a true Frosh, with no game experience, and still compile more yards than Bama's offense, I would laugh at you.
But there it was right before my eyes. Some of you will say Bama went conservative, but they attempted 22 throws, got sacked 4 times, and McElroy was able to run for his life for positive yardage 7 others. They weren't being that conservative, and yet Texas was still hanging with them. That is what I saw. What did you see?

So 2 teams make it not so? They couldn't do shite against the only physical defenses they have. Okie St, Mizzou, TTU, TAMU, Baylor, etc? Lol

they got bitched in the second half and were one drive away from losing to a backup qb making his first ever meaningful appearance
so that was exposed??
they forced 3 turnovers in the last 5 minutes of the game. Exposed???
Texas drive chart from 2nd half:
9 plays 28 yards PUNT
6 plays 10 yards PUNT
3 plays 0 yards PUNT
5 plays 59 yards TD
3 plays -1 yard PUNT
10 plays 65 yards TD
1 play -4 yards FUMBLE
2 plays 0 yards INT
2 plays 18 yards INT
exposed? yeah, right. 2 sustain drives that whole half.
The defense wasnt responsible for the score being close, or TExas being 1 TD away from winning. Bama offense went vanilla up big, and the D even got a little content. When they need to seal the win, they turned it on and got the job done. They were not exposed, you're clueless if u think that.

It just illustrates the fact that you are speaking in generalities, and that is a pretty unsophisticated way of viewing things.
Colt faced better defenses this year...or at least, faced defenses who performed better.
That is the point. The BIG XII is anything buy a flag football conference, tough guy.
BTW....how many LSU players got hurt against Bama? Does that make us a flag football team?
Seriously, that argument is borderline retarded.

I think Pete Carroll would agree with this after the 2007 Stanford game - i.e. JD Booty throwing 4 (I believe) second half interceptions with a broken finger in a loss that cost them a shot at the NC.

dude, quit acting like there wasnt a freshman qb playing out there. two td drives is more than enough. if mccoy is out there, texas wins, imo. sorry, but thats just how it was.
bama had NO ANSWER for shipley, and had he not dropped shite all night long, it might have been different as well
stick to the sec pride all you want, but bama was one drive away from embarassing themselves in front of the whole viewing audience

they were up 18 and basically letting Texas hit that slant to Shipley, as long as they kept it in front of them. He slipped the 1st one and broke it
and the 2nd was a blown coverage. Gimmick TD
the same secondary that got "exposed" had 3 INTs and sealed the game when it mattered.

Exactly Lester. Quit acting like it was a level playing field because it wasn't.
Texas was trying to find a new identity while facing the SEC's best defense. And they still managed to score more than say.....LSU.

By your boy Robbie Green.
It wasn't a gimmick, it was a wheel route.

We didn't watch the same game!
The game I watched McElroy was running for his life EVERY time he dropped back to pass. They were running it pretty well, so they stuck to that.
When Texas got 13, Bama tried to run their offense, but was unsuccessful. When Texas scored 21, Bama still couldn't move the football, even with the score 24-21. The so-called "turning it on" you mentioned was a sack caused by a true freshman who doesn't know how to call line protection. Then he throws to desperation INTs with a minute left to play.
Bama didn't "turn it on" the freshman did what most true freshmen do in a situation like that. Force throws, and make mistakes.
Posted on 1/8/10 at 1:13 pm to TxTiger82
Ok maybe touch football, it's a plug and play style league and i would never draft a Big 12 QB. FWIW Graham Harrell who wasn't drafted could have put up McCoy's numbers and wins if he had played at Texas. Even at TTU they had one conference loss his final year.

are you serious?
you talkin about the two picks under 2 minutes left when the game was ALREADY OVER

two drives is enough to say that Bama's D was exposed??
5 Turnovers
DEF TD
only gave up 2 drives of over 36 yards ALL NIGHT
EXPOSED!!!!!!
you're being an over dramatic fig as usual. Not sure what game u watched.

because of the defense??? see, you dont even know what u are saying.
Bama got up and ran the ball the rest of the night. McElroy threw like 12 passes all night.
they played ball control and clock management.
thats the only reason the game was close. Not because of the defense being "exposed"

Really? Because SEC QBs not named Manning have been soooo impressive and all.
