LSU loses 15 starters to draft/graduation in 2019, the OC, the DC, then loses the other two starting receivers from 2019 in 2020 due to opt outs, and the starting Quarterback gets hurt week 3. So essentially, it’s a new coaching staff, 18 new starters (many freshmen) and you’re playing in the SEC. They were bad and turned it around at the end, hired different coaches, and had the number 4 recruiting class. Given that most of the guys in there now have SEC experience, #13 doesn’t sound far fetched at all actually.

And it is still influenced by the preseason polls.

Absolutely. Pre season rankings are driven by past results and future expectations yet a team can lose a game in a bad schedule and hang around the top 10 because of the preexisting biases of what they were expected to be.

I agree with everyone who says they should do away with preseason polls but it helps the SEC way more than anyone else IMO.

I'll never forget in 2014 A&M knocked off USCe in the opener and USCe was a top 10 preseason team. A&M jumped into the top 15 with a win over a USCe team who ended 2014 7-6 and 3-5 in the SEC.

More SEC teams on the top of the poll means teams who beat them jump very high and those top teams who lose don't fall as far.

I mean I know you're not well spoken but you somehow think having MORE teams at the top of pre-season polls hurts the SEC?

nice to know that we can add preseason polls to the list of things that exist to give the SEC an advantage over everyone else
