relatively new Hockey fan here (been watching for about 5 years now).
it is downright pathetic that the Stanley Cup Finals are being broadcasted on NBC Sports Network and not the flagship NBC station. especially on a Saturday night when most network stations are running re-runs of reality shows. how can this be possible?
America ?

Don't know how it's possible but I share in your anger

NBC is really pushing this versus/NBCSN thing, it's a good way to get people to watch I guess.

They're trying to inform people that the other flopping sport aside from the nba will be on their network this fall.

yea, but this is the Finals. they can push the premium cable channel all the want during regular season and playoffs, but more people could see it on the flagship station.
the NBA really pushes being on TNT. MLB really pushes the MLB Network, etc. ... however both the finals and World Series are on ABC and FOX.
The Stanley Cup Finals should be on NBC plain and simple.

Consider also that the US Open broadcast ran a little past 7 central. This would have conflicted with the Cup broadcast. Better to not have conflict there.

to put this into perspective -
now the NHL Stanley Cup Finals is just like the WNBA Finals. most of the games are shown on premium channels that most of the public do not get (or can't afford). only the championship game (or when re-runs of American Ninja Warrior, Law & Order, etc.) are not scheduled to air.

Probably the reason, every Finals game but Today's and Monday's is on NBC.
I share the anger though.

Looks like the Bruins would rather take a hit on a Hawk than make a play on the puck

still though they could easily pick the game back up on NBC. if the Open went over a few minutes, they could show the game on NBC Sports and then carry it back over to NBC after the short time it interfered. right now NBC is showing Law & Order and Saturday Night Live re-runs.
