But honestly if you want to talk about it being a protege to beat him, you have to look at assistants that came up under him and went to HCs positions afterwards: Jimbo, Kirby, etc.
Lane was HC at USC, Tennessee and the Raiders before going to Alabama as OC.
Sark wouldn’t count either due to the same reasons.

Short week and night game in College Park with stadium planning a black out + Iowa's first game outside of Iowa. Iowa's offense is one of the worst in the country, so I think there will be plenty of chances for Maryland to keep this game close. No doubt, though, Iowa has an extremely tough defense.
