Whatever triple wing thing that Vandy runs it took VT a half for the D to figure it out...

Luckily for Alabama, they are not VT and should put them away in the 2nd half.

But cannot lie...getting taunted by the few vandy fans saying you lost to the Mexican Vick hurt...

Surprised they didn't call him for pushing off.

I couldn’t think higher of Ryan Williams, and it seems like Smith is noticeably better than him

It’s incredible

No targeting. That was his shoulder.

WR wasn’t defenseless either. Made a football move before the contact.

Alabama players really just let Prentice try to run off after that?

Holy shite that could have killed him.

Yeah the fact that no one told him to stay down was kinda crazy.

I am definitely confused about what “head or neck area” is nowadays.

I like that this wasn’t targeting, but I can’t say I’m not confused.

That hit could have been targeting if he was defenseless. His forward progress wasn’t stopped so he wasn’t defenseless. When you’re not defenseless, targeting is only leading with the helmet.

Jam, buddy, you need to house that.

This TD is up in the air now.

Certainly this isn’t correct

I don’t believe any human can explain to me any consistent way that defenseless is called

are QBs always defenseless? They must be.

quote:

The NCAA defines a defenseless player as follows:

A player in the act of or just after throwing a pass, and that includes "an offensive player in a passing posture with a focus downfield"

A player attempting to catch a forward or backward pass, or a player who has completed the catch but hasn't had ample time to protect themselves or hasn't clearly become the ball carrier yet

A kicker in the act of kicking or just after kicking the ball

A player on the ground

A player who receives a blind-side block

A player with the ball who is already in the grasp of an opponent and whose forward progress has been stopped

A quarterback any time after a change of possession

A ball carrier purposely sliding feet first (like in the NFL, the ball is dead the instant a ball carrier slides feet first and touches the ground with anything other than their hands or feet)

Pretty straightforward IMO.
