Celina ISD Athletic Director and Celina High School Football Coach Bill Elliott has been placed on non-disciplinary leave amid an investigation into his son, a former Celina teacher arrested on felony charges.

Elliott, along with Moore Middle School Principal Allison Ginn, will be on leave with pay pending the completion of two different investigations into allegations against Caleb Elliott, his son.

These investigations come after a lawsuit was filed against Celina ISD and Caleb Elliott earlier this week by families from Moore Middle School in Celina.

Celina ISD said it initiated its own third-party investigation upon learning of the Celina Police Department's investigation into Caleb Elliott, but that they are holding off on the investigation at the request of the police department.

Following review of this week's lawsuit, Celina ISD Superintendent Tom Maglisceau said the district asked the investigator to incorporate the allegations in the lawsuit into the investigation, excluding criminal issues being investigated by CPD.

That third-party investigator, Maglisceau said, was reportedly concerned that Bill Elliott and Ginn's presence in the district could hurt the investigation's integrity.

"To be clear, the investigator has not made findings in any respect; however, based on her preliminary review, and in an abundance of caution, she recommended the District consider placing both employees on non-disciplinary leave pending completion of the independent third party investigation," Maglisceau wrote in a statement.

Caleb Elliott turned himself in on Oct. 9 and was booked into Collin County Jail for possession or promotion of child pornography, a second-degree felony. He was released from jail on bond on Oct. 10.

The lawsuit filed this week claims that during the 2022–2023 school year, Elliott began an improper relationship with a then-senior at the high school. Instead of firing him, the lawsuit claims Celina ISD transferred Elliott to Moore Middle School in the summer of 2023.

The lawsuit says Elliott’s explanation was that he “did not know it was illegal” and claimed he was trying to deter theft.

Before a special school board meeting last week, Elliott resigned and surrendered his teaching license, but the charges and his fate with the district remained a key topic.

Apparently the coach's son had been using a camera to record kids int he middle school locker room (the son worked at a middle school in the district).

I’ve been keeping up with this. Celina is a state title favorite for their division. For everyone’s sake, I hope this isn’t a Paterno situation where dad tried to cover for his kid.

Yep. He’s been head coach for 10+ years and they won a title in 2024.
