Sorry to hear that.

As mentioned above, that is why i started doing my own work and have turned in into working with a couple mini tour guys. I don't trust anyone to work on my stuff now.

This is true problem. Clubs need to be correct length, lie, and loft to get the most out of them.

I understand completely...BUT!!!...

Someone who does not play golf but 10 times a year is not going to spend the extra money to get fitted by you or anyone else for that matter. I'm going to take a shot in the dark here on what you charge to get guys up and going...

Fitting $150-$200
Irons -MSRP ($899)
Driver/woods - MSRP $300/$500
Reshafting - iron set $200 ($100 if shafts don't need to be ordered)
- Woods $25+cost of shaft(if shafts need ordered) (X3)
Grips - $8 X 13 ($104)
Putter - $200

Just on the low end you are looking at $2,004 just to get started.

Instead, the average golfers go spend $300-$500 at the big box stores and get out on the course that afternoon! Which for my side of the business is great, for yours not so much. Not one person who is a weekend warrior is going to spend $2000 on a new set, and they only way they are is if they are a person of means!

This is a pretty good guess. It does get pricy, and for some its worth it. I just feel bad when I am at the driving range and see a fellow golfer with a $1000 set of blade irons and he is struggling to hit the ball 30 yards.

Helping with fitting and club work is a side hobby of mine. I just really enjoy doing it. I have a 7-5 as an engineer.

You had it right the first time, don't go changing their names to make it sound like a guy.

I can't see Edwin Watts making it another 5 years. Anywhere. With Dicks Sporting Goods expanding to 550 stores golf galxy expanding and the new look academy with a much better golf shop and Golfsmith expanding watts is just not making money. I know of two stores closing by the summer. Anyone have any info on this capital golf? Just the property itself costing 1.1 mil seems like a huge reach.

No. He's right. This state is terrible for golf and stand alone stores aren't working nationally without an Internet sales office.
