Can we just say it's racist to cancel football to keep it going?

The vast majority of major CFB players are minorities and this is how many of them are able to afford college. Cancelling the season means many teams will fold and no longer offer scholarships in the future for those athletes. Also, if football is cancelled their football teams will not be spending lots of money to keep those athletes in a safety bubble, their best chance to stay covid free. Finally, a cancelled season means these athletes lose out on potential future NIL money (or more if you are a union PAC player).

Anyone else think we need to keep the season going because a cancelled season is, you know, racist?

It allows white people to gather though which they are firmly against.

Call the games a competition protest. Will not only be allowed but encouraged by the “experts” at Johns Hopkins

Nobody is losing their scholarship.

So it's not like, no CFB and kids are losing their jobs like the general population.

When people are out of work, I don't think there would be this groundswell for #CFBlivesmatter

They're still just College students living the dream. It's not like they lost their job. If you were good enough, there's still plenty of tape of you to get drafted. Don't act like this is nothing but selfish reasons for couch potato entertainment.

So obviously your suggestion is tongue and check. Hell a lot of people would rally around the idea of athletes just being College students for once.

You are missing the boat. There is no way that cancelling sports and sustaining all of these scholarships is feasible for the vast majority of schools

Big coaching salaries
Facility wars
Stadium expansions and renovations
85 scholarship players
Basically subsidizes entire ADs sans men’s basketball

This whole institution is about to come crashing down.

Then don't be a poor.

If you built your University on sports, and basically one sport... that's the hole you dug.

Nobody is losing a scholarship? If your program shuts down and you are an incoming freshman, even if they honor it for this year, you think they are paying for 4 years for a sport that doesnt exist anymore?

if they announced today that all scholarships are equally suspended and all players will owe full tuition costs if they dont play, then by this evening there would be massive player protests demanding they be allowed to play
