Can we have an unconventional uniform thread?

I know there are sports still going on and this seems like an “off season” thread, but watching LSU’s very own Cliff Godwin and ECU spank Tenn right now got me thinking. Its pretty darn funny seeing ole Cliff roaming the 3rd base line wearing a uniform, but then i had another thought, “is this funny or is it right and pure?” Only baseball is where you see coaches wear the uniform. Why is that? Or should the question be “why dont other sports have coaches don the team uniform? Could you imagine old man lou holtz wearing pads and the golden dome on the side line? Or some hot volleyball coach putting on the spandex? What say you? Are you pro coaches should wear uniforms, only certain sports, or no uniform at all?

In baseball the manager goes on to the field. Not the case in other sports.

I think you may be confusing the term “field” with “sideline” every coach in every major sport is allowed to stand on the sidelines, uniform or no!

Manager goes out to the mound to talk to the pitcher and the first and third base coaches are stationed on the field.
The sideline is more analogous to staying in the dugout.

But coaches is other sports are also alowed to go onto the field or court, with restrictions of course, during a timeout. Are you suggesting that in baseball a coach is alowed to walk a little further onto the field than other sports because he is wearing a uniform?

Nothing better than tEast coast college basketball coach with slicked back hair and possible mob ties rocking an armani suit. Or John Chaney.

Early baseball days coaches were players too.
Hence the uniform.
I think it's great.
We had an old man years ago coaching against me in rec and he wore the same uniform as the kids. Cleats and all. He was amazing and great for the community and really knew baseball.
Every year I think about doing it to as I still coach and I think I'd just come out looking stupid.
He looked like a baseball player.
I'd end up looking like a try hard. I bet most people wouldn't get it. I love baseball.
