You should read about David Duvall and Rich Beem, especially Beem on playing the PGA championship every year till 65.
Both ain't worth a shite anymore and thumb their noses at anybody griping about taking a spot in a major that could go to somebody who might have a chance to win. Read how they feel about their name on those trophies. Means more than smaller tourneys.

quote:I truly believe if he gave it thought he’d take his status and 59 wins over winning 1 major and nothing else.
If I were you I would very much doubt what you think about golfers and the desire to win a major especially Monty and winning the Open.
quote:Ehh, in golf there kind of is.
he is not a so-called low-tier legend, No. Such. Thing.
What Monty did is his career will have suited him better than if he were to win 1 major and nothing else. I’m fairly certain of that.

There is no right or wrong. It's completely dependent upon the individual. Personally, I'd rather win 20 tournaments and the have all of the extra money over one Major and one tournaments worth of money.

Well, that argument doesn't hold water. Unless you're saying that the alternative is winning one major and never cashing another check in your career - which is a rather silly and extreme. If you are good enough to win a single major you are good enough to make cuts and cash checks without winning any lesser tournaments (barring catastrophic injury or illness i.e. Duval).
Gimme a major title and history.

Shaun Micheel or Matt Kuchar? 9 million career earnings or 50 million career earnings?

Who has the major? There’s your answer.

I'd take the extra wins and money. There's your answer from me.

I suggest you read about the shite Micheel dealt with post PGA before making such a stupid comparison. Better comparison would be Beem who is quite happy with his 1 major. Read about him too. I bet you are young.

Irrelevant in the discussion.

Good for him. All people are different. I'd rather have Kuchar's career.

I'm quite comfortable in my opinion and I've followed golf for probably 25 or more years now and played in college.

Now that is the most irrelevant comment in the entire thread. :golfclap:

Thanks, it took a lot of work to get there.
