So weird how a protest whose founder said it’s literally about the flag is no longer about the flag AT ALL
I honestly don’t care about the kneeling personally, I see it as a rather mundane protest, but we don’t need to lie with what it’s about

Everyone seems to talk about how he's "playing" this. Brees is a good man. After talking to teammates, maybe this is what he truly believes. He still didn't say he will protest or anything and it really seems like he wants a dialogue and can try to utilize his connection with the president positively. If he takes a knee during the anthem, then I'll lose a lot of respect for him, less for the decision to kneel, more for completely backing down from his beliefs.
With that said, he's wrong about it "never" being about the flag. That was one of Kap's first quotes about the thing. That and the socks with cops as pigs and the Castro t-shirt/positive comment... I'm getting pretty annoyed with all this revisionist history related to Kap coming out of this.

Kap also told you the protest is about going agaisnt the flag
