but don't fool yourself to think that Nelson is the only kid on that team that can play SEC
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Who else?

Nelson is nice...we played him a couple of times and you could tell when he was young he was a stand out. I just don't see anyone else on the team like that.

Hilliard is okay...he can score but I don't see any big schools taking a look at him for very long

Honestly, I don't think they beat Loyola.

Nelson will sign a nice scholarship. If he can get a D-1 school to file his appeal from the hardship ruling he didn't get this summer from attending prep school, he may sign this year somewhere. Most likely next year though. This summer Memphis, So. Miss, LSU, Auburn, Baylor, Texas, Tulane, La. Tech, Ok. State all inquired about him. He was close to signing with Utah State who won 30 games last year but the appeal fell through. He will be a good player. A steal in a few years.

Hilliard can easily play at Tulane or ULL. he will sign D-1. Arsenio Francis is a good player but has never really been coached. He was an all-state player I believe at Lafayette HS a couple years ago when they won state. Not sure but I believe he was the player that got caught up in the gun scandal.

Upchurch will sign D-1 and could be a role player like Darnell Lazare but IDK if SEC unless it is Auburn or a lower tier team. Most of them players though will sign low D-1 offers or D2 just because most schools don't sign JC kids. Now, they could all surprise people and get good looks but who knows. They are only 3 games into the season. They will have a good year and may win the conference, which is fairly weak compared to that of the TX leagues.

And about Loyola, Loyola actually has a good team. Torry Beaullieu is a very good guard that got looked over in HS because of Ryan. Ryan Brock is very good. Bennett is a nice player too. They have good guards but their bigs aren't that good.

Once KR started to charge I quit. I just started to get on nola and cajunpreps more and more.

Before that I was BBall321 or something like that. That was a long time ago though.

I always read the board after he started charging, I just never posted anymore. That board isn't even there anymore now. It moved or something.

ULL is not trash...I don't care for their coach but they have a decent squad

Nicholls has a terrible coach as well. If it weren't for the foreign players Nicholls would really be bad.

Ok so call me a Nicholls homer but Piper is a good coach. He finally has talent and he's winning with it. Nicholls will give LSU hell this year if they guard like they did last year.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If it wasn't for Josh White and the Africans, CLA would have been bad.

And, FYI, Nicholls only has 1 Australian this year that will be a big time scorer for them. Bose is quality. Friend has the skill but hasnt proven himself, and McCallum is too young

I will give back the ULL is trash comment. They are a team that hasn't gotten any better. They have talent but their talent hasn't even been shown with Lee as the coach. He has a team filled with players that were all-state players but can't win hardly. When Lee is gone ULL could take off.

As for Nicholl's we will see. This is a good roster this year for their league. A good player in Bose that will be all conference. A talented transfer in Mo Foster from Helen Cox after 2 years of JUCO. Fred Hunter is a good player. The other 2 foreign kids will provide good minutes. But outside of them it is thin. Foster, Bose, Iles and Hunter is a good lineup But not too much though after that 4 as for production except McCallum. But IDK if they will give LSU hell, they may, but LSU is not all that deep this year.

And last thing, what does Josh White, Yan Moukoury and David Ndoumba have to do with this topic? Nothing, but FWIW, Josh wasn't a foreign kid. You quoted me for talking about Nicholl's foreigners, but mention White with the Cameroon kids CLA had. Not the same thing. Take Yan and David away and CLA still may have won state the first time with Caleb and Josh and Pirri, although Pirri wasn't good as sophomore. The next 2 years though, CLA definitely would have still won state, but that is neither here nor there.

All this came because I said BRCC is a top collegiate team in the state and better then SU, Nicholl's, ULL and maybe ULM. May not be true, but they definitely wouldn't get pistol whipped by them, especially not by Southern.

It sucks now over there. I am doing my own thing now. I covered the entire state last year for PelicanPreps.com but this season I will only do small things for them. I will be working on 2 different sites. If you read nola then you will know where to look. Also, last year I placed over 180 kids on Rivals through PelicanPreps and got 3 kids ranked in the top 150 in the country besides Galloway. I also am able to send players to the Rivals150 camp that my boy from Rivals.com runs. It has been a good thing so far. It will only get better

If you're talking about the incident from about 3 years ago that wasn't Arsenio, I think that was Jacob Martin.

I don't follow high school sports as much as I did when I was in school.

I have been on PelicanPreps from time to time. I enjoy their site, but the message boards really never took off like I thought they would have.

I was simply referring to your comment about the foreigners. If you take the best players off of a good team, yeah, they won't be good. I was just paralleling it to CLA since you like them so much.

No...they would get beat by 20 by all of those teams.

I know Jacob was the only one that got in trouble, but I think someone else knew he had the gun with him or something like that. I don't remember if it Arsenio or Xavier or someone else.

Also I thought Arsenio was at Lee College b/c I know one of the guys that plays there. You know why he came to BRCC now?

Fair enough. But the second year, they still would have won the title. CD in 2007 was not that good and they were runner up. In 2008, there was no Josh, Yan or David and we went 41-2. And I like CLA because I coached there and know them kids that are still there. This will be the last year they have a shot at state though, they lose 7 very good seniors this season.

If SU beats anybody by 20, it is a miracle. The other 3 have potential to beat BRCC by 20 if their kids play like they are supposed to. But most likely they will overlook a JC team and not blow them out.

Came to BRCC because he wanted to be a part of something new and possibly special. Also it was a chance to represent his state and city since Lafayette is only an hour from BR. But I know one of the Francis' were involved because one of them passed in front of me at the dome that year while the game was going on the Teurlings Coach told me that it was the Francis kid that got involved in the gun thing. He was/is a good kid, just caught up at the wrong place at the wrong time.

If you knew the entire situation behind Nelson you would understand. There is a lot of information that nobody knows about. He is a great kid and does well. He will be a good player and a success. If you are a hater then hate then, but just know I told you so.

Not a hater, but he doesn't have "a few years". He needs to get it together now or he won't make it.

Good kid or not...actions speak louder than words. I hope he gets it right b/c he is a good talent.

I'd hate to see him waste it.

Being a steal in 2 years has nothing to do with him getting his act together. He has to stay at a JUCO for 2 years before he can go to a D1 school unless he was qualified before he went there. Which in his situation, a D1 school that wants him next year will have to file an appeal on his initial D1 eligibility ruling from this summer to get him cleared for D1 next year. But most likely he won't get cleared because of the Prep school he was at was a joke. But count it though, 1 year is this season, 2 is next season, That is why I said 2 years. His act is together, if it wasn't Foster would have kicked him off the team already.
