Is that supposed to be some impressive feat?
Not really but the point is I guarantee the 1 and 2 seeds from the West are praying the lakers don't end up playing their way into the 7/8 spot.

re: Brandon Jennings on Kobe: "Best defense played on me in the NBA" (Posted on 1/16/13 at 12:36 p.m. to Nonetheless) Good to hear. Thats what pisses me off about perimeter defense in the NBA. IMO it takes more skill to play defense down low, but frankly its 90% effort on the perimeter, just f'n hustle.
Thats not true. Defense is hard in all areas. Perimeter defenders have to communicate and fight through picks.

If one guy gets slowed down by a pick, then somebody else has to cheat over and help for a second, which means your whole defense is now going to be behind on the rotations.

Kobe's overall defense has dropped off a bit over the past 3 years. He is clearly no longer a 1st team All Defensive player at this point in his career.

2nd team last year

I am well aware of this. Trust me, I am a die hard Kobe fan. Those accolades the past few years have been more like a career acheivement award than actual performance. In my opinion, his selections to those teams in 10, 11, & 12 are really based off of reputation at this point. Like I said in my previous post, he can still be an elite defender but on a case by case basis. His off defense the last two years (this year included) has been suspect at times.

I feel ya.

Once you get old, you have to pick in chose your battles. Like someone said, perimeter D is all about hustle and effort. You have to save up somewhere, especially considering what Kobe does on the offensive end as well. That dude grinds and must be dog tired after his games

The fact that Kobe even has good defensive nights is a testament to how well he has taken care of himself. He's played nearly 19 years of highly competitive ball (including playoffs/Olympics), shoulders the load offensively, and now he's guarding the opponents best wing players. He's also playing the 4th most minutes in the league at just under 39mpg.

Even when he jacks up 30 shots, how can anyone complain? He, along with MWP, bring more effort than anyone on the team on a night to night basis.

Said it a number of times, but the Lakers WILL make the playoffs.

Kobe ain't gonna let that team just play like they've been playing this season with that much talent.

They'll play better but may have already dug themselves too big of a hole.

Besides Milwaukee isn't exactly playoff material either. Not a signature win or anything.

They get an opportunity for that signature win on Thursday against the Heat.

Kobe needs to revert back to playing robin to the big man's batman for the lakers to win big again.

This is just pure dumbness. He was Robin to Gasol's Batman?

Like him or not Kobe's bringing it every night trying to get his team back in it. Anyone who doesnt see this knows shite about the game.
