Disagree. I think they would get destroyed by a St. Mary's type in the first round.

Here's the very first one that I did...

First edition of Bracketology (Posted on 1/18 at 2:25 a.m.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This was a semi well-thought and studied EARLY edition of bracketology for March Madness.

Boredom kicked in and I decided to go ahead and do 'em.

Also, each and every seed is based on FUTURE predictions and not now. While some of you will jump at the chance to argue why so and so should be a 3 and not a 5, try to see the brackets as they are. I looked up rpi, sos, future schedules, etc. to get the seeds where they are...along with my own predictions. LSU is in!

* Big East - 9 teams in.

EAST

1 Duke vs 16 Long Island
8 Butler vs 9 Baylor
5 Illinois vs 12 George Mason
4 Syracuse vs 13 Buffalo
6 Kansas vs 11 Villanova
3 Florida vs 14 Navy
7 Saint Mary's vs 10 Purdue
2 U Conn vs 15 Jacksonville

South

1 Wake Forest vs 16 Albany
8 Missouri vs 9 LSU
5 Cal vs 12 Nebraska
4 Memphis vs 13 VMI
6 Kentucky vs 11 Illinois State
3 Marquette vs 14 Austin Peay
7 Ohio State vs 10 USC
2 Louisville vs 15 Arkansas State

Midwest

1 Pitt vs 16 Cornell
8 Tennessee vs 9 Washington
5 Clemson vs 12 TCU
4 Texas vs 13 Davidson
6 West Virginia vs 11 Dayton
3 Minnesota vs 14 Siena
7 Texas A&M vs 10 Miami
2 North Carolina vs 15 North Dakota State

West

1 Oklahoma vs 16 Alabama State
8 Arizona State vs 9 Florida State
5 Xavier vs 12 Houston
4 Georgetown vs 13 Nevada
6 Gonzaga vs 11 BYU
3 UCLA vs 14 Stephen F Austin
7 Notre Dame vs 10 Arkansas
2 Michigan State vs 15 Pacific

You've come a long way, Pisces. Makes me wonder if I had done this from the beginning of the season just how crappy mine would look.

So far, Minnesota got bumped out by Illinois and Temple fell off the radar losing at home to Philly rival La Salle. Cincinnati got a big win, but I'm not so sure this puts them in. We'll have to evaluate at the end of the night.

I agree...Pisces puts good effort in on this. Especially with Selection Sunday just over 2 weeks away.

Washington State beats Arizona.

Does Arizona want to be in this tournament or what? And a good effort by UAB, but they were never going to win with Vaden that cold from the floor.

ETA: That clinched the C-USA title for Memphis. Congrats. Also to Utah State and Weber State for clinching the WAC and Big Sky.

Thanks guys for the comments and I have enjoyed the feedback and interaction and glad I am not the only one who appreciates this time of year.

Zona rally dropped the ball tonight! Watching Wash and ASU battle for a 4 seed.

Pisces, big win for Michigan but what do you think about them? I am inclined to put them in the first five out, just on the brink. Minnesota could well be out when I redo things after these games are all over.

Yeah. I didn't mean St. Mary's specifically, just a motivated mid-major. I really think UK will lose to LSU and then quit and get murdered in the first round of the NIT.

I'm thinking winning their next 5 in a row (including conf tourney) would do it. I haven't included them in a single bracket, but they're biting a bit.

Minnesota, meanwhile, is a loss away from leaving. 20 wins and 8-8 in the 2nd toughest conference...I'm going to leave them in. They have a decent body of work for OOC, also.

You'll see in my notes later that I was dangerously close to swapping out Memphis and Oklahoma. Blake Griffin combined with remaining schedules, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

Will be kinda fun to redo them. Hopefully I'll get the pods right the first time around this time.

Yeah, one more OU loss and a CUSA swamp by the Tigers and I'm switching them, too. A shame for OU because for 90 percent of the season, they were 1 material.

Worry not about the pods. But I would like for us to go to KC.

Great games late in the Pac-10

SC lost by 3 in OT at Berkeley..pretty much assures the Bears are a lock

UW up by 2 in OT for the conference lead

UW now with a 1.5-game lead in the Pac-10. ASU might just have to wait another year for their first conference title.

The Pac 10 is wild. I think those were the two best teams we saw tonight. I don't want LSU to play UW...we'd match up better with ASU, IMHO. Brockman would be tough for Tas to handle. Pondextere would be a load, too. I am really impressed with the "other" Isaiah Thomas.

Brave, notice where I have LSU now. I think I may be a little more realistic. What do you think?

I agree. A win over Kentucky and we get to the 4 line. I still have Marquette clinging to a protected spot, but I think it's inevitable that James' injury will drop them. But I will give them the benefit of the doubt until they show me otherwise.
