Yes, and the big conference tourneys are just two weeks away. Some good action in one week as well. Some of the small/mid-major conferences wrap up league play this week. That time is coming soon. Then people can stop griping about projections and deal with my tourney predictions.

OK, I think it's fair to say we're on the bubble then, according to that definition.

You're 7-7 in Big 10 play...just cannot lose the next two games. You gotta go 1-1 and win a game in the Big 10 tourney and you're in, assuming they're doing a Big 10 Tourney.
We actually have four more Big 10 games left. Three of them we can/should win (home against Northwestern and Penn St, at Iowa). At Purdue will be difficult, though. Then the Big 10 tourney. Go 3-1, then get a win in the Big 10 tourney, we should be fine. I'd say if we get only 2 more wins (out of at least 5 more games, the 4 reg season, and at least one Big 10 tourney game) we're probably done, 3 will be close, but I'd say we'd be just in, 4 we'd be a lock, IMO.

Well, for example, does Conference USA actually have a tournament? Or do they just bring in the Washington Generals to lose to Memphis?
Posted on 2/22/09 at 10:08 pm to BraveTiger225
I think the only conference that doesn't is the Ivy League.

Correct. The regular season champion gets the bid.
The Pac-10, for a while, didn't have one, but they resurrected it a few years ago when they realized they were retarded and losing huge amounts of money by not having one.

For years they did not, I thought.

if so it was before my time, or further back then my limited memory goes.

The Pac 10 also didn't until recently.

Was redoing the bracket on the assumption ASU was going to win this game. Looks like the Wildcats have other ideas.

My bracket projections after Sunday, February 22
NOTES:
-Kansas jumps and swaps out with Wake Forest
-LSU up to a 5, but gets shipped west for round 1
-All top seeds the same, but Pitt takes overall number one
-Miami jumps in as the last team with a projected 8-8 ACC record; but since they can't play in Miami, they get shipped to the northwest for the first round
-The mediocrity of a couple of conferences is matching up a lot of "BCS" conference teams in the first round = good stuff
-Based on my best understanding of the stupid-arse "pod" system.

Not bad. My only strong disagreement is where you have Zags and Wiscy.
And the sites...how did you determine those? I realize that those are in fact, the actual sites, but how do we know their attachment to each region yet?
Ever since they changed the old format and did the whole "pod" thing - for example, WEST and EAST teams playing st the same site - I have been confused.

I goofed and forgot about that. Will need to edit. Pods are actually pretty simple. Top 4 seeds especially get to play at a site as close to home as possible. They try to cut travel as much as possible for everyone.
Give me a minute to re-arrange.

Ok, I think I have it fixed as best as I understand the system. Not a good draw for LSU.

I still wouldn't say we're on the bubble, yet (well, maybe we are, depending what your definition of "bubble" is). I'd probably say we're around a 10 seed, right now. Maybe one of the last 10 teams in, but not last 5. Luckily, we have a great chance of going at least 3-1, before heading into Big 10 tourney play.
I agree with that. I am a very frustrated OSU fan right now. I can't understand Matta's insistence to stick with the match up zone with his team's size and athleticism, especially vs teams that can shoot the 3 well (NW and Ill). We are very young with no seniors on the roster. Lack of leadership and a steady point guard has killed us. Should be very good next year with Lighty back from injury, and assuming everyone else comes back. But this year we're 1 and done in the tourney...2 at best.
