You're alive, Pisces. Too much to take in today?
Just got back from parade and the LSU/AU game. I am worn out. I manged to ctahc some games here and there, but not much. I will be doing a lot of highlite watching and reading up on today's action.
I will say this...UNC is still a one, but they're the lowest of the 1's...even if OU loses at UT.
I'd have to say:
1. Pitt
2. OU
3. U Conn
4. UNC
5. Memphis
6. Louisville
7. Clemson
8. Michigan State
9. Wake Forest
10. Duke

I finally put out my bracket for your reading/bashing pleasure...of course it's meaningless after everything that went down today. Will look completely different when I update it tomorrow night.

Nothing important...no big.

VT is about to be taken out from my bracket. They may not win another game on their schedule and they needed that one today. I think MD might deserve in.
Posted on 2/21/09 at 10:01 pm to PiscesTiger
Maryland deserves consideration and placement on the watch board, but they aren't in yet. I agree on Va. Tech. They will either be off my board or close to it after tomorrow.
I'm going to relent and put St. Mary's back in. If they can win their last two conference games and get Mills back, then they have a good résumé.
UAB is on the verge of getting in, as well.

Gotta think Maryland wins a few more and earns an 11 or 12.
UAB needs to balls up and find a way to play Memphis in the CUSA tourney.
Providence, USC, Cincy = all but done.

Watching Creighton/GMU...two possible first round opponents for LSU.
Posted on 2/21/09 at 10:16 pm to PiscesTiger
yeah SC is fricked. Total choke job today. That was pretty much a must win
Posted on 2/21/09 at 10:20 pm to usc6158
I'd like to put the Trojans in and for most of the month, they were as high as an 8 for me. They play in a league much like the SEC - lots of parity. The 7-7 conf record, though, just doesn't do them any good. They need to win out. Washington was reeling and SC didn't step up and take it.
Posted on 2/21/09 at 10:41 pm to PiscesTiger
They stepped up and took it, just not in a good way. My current projection has us against Arizona. Hopefully we will move up to the 4/5 range and avoid something like that. If Mason wins, they could end up in the 12/13 zone, same with Creighton. Matter of fact, I have Creighton at 12 and Mason at 13. Very interesting. Will turn it on myself.
ETA: Crap, missed it.

The BIG Recap from Saturday
Let's start from the top:
BOSTON COLLEGE-MIAMI
-BC is slipping a bit, once again, and Miami has the best résumé of any team in a major conference with such a bad record (5-8). Miami needs to get back to .500, although I have a suspicion 7-9 might work for them, even though it shouldn't.
NOTRE DAME-PROVIDENCE
-Notre Dame is trying, but it's just not gonna be enough unless something dramatic happens. Providence? Out for now, and lots of work to do. Not looking promising for the Friars.
BUTLER-DAVIDSON
-At-large prospects: Butler? Yes. Davidson? No. I now think that Davidson is going to have to win their conference tournament, unless a lot of bubble teams lose soon.
TENNESSEE-KENTUCKY
-Both are now double-digit seeds in my book. Tennessee and Kentucky may finally converge on the 10 line.
BAYLOR-OKLAHOMA STATE
-The Cowboys are quietly getting back in the discussion out of the Big 12. A decent schedule remaining that culminates March 7 in Norman. Could 9-7 and a win in the Big 12 tourney do it? Perhaps.
LOUISVILLE-CINCINNATI
-Louisville is a solid 2 right now, and Cincinnati played well, but missed a golden chance to get back into the field. Now, they have some work to do. They need to beat both Villanova and at Syracuse.
WASHINGTON STATE-UCLA
-UCLA. What a bunch of weirdos. Crappy defense, as Wazzu should never score that many points. And in Westwood, no less. The midweek win over UW is canceled out. Maybe even a bit of slippage for the Bruins.
MISSISSIPPI STATE-ALABAMA
-Loss by the Bulldogs is officially their end.
NORTHERN IOWA-SIENA
-They are now in an at-large spot, should they need it. Big, big win over a possible conference winner in the MVC.
NORTH CAROLINA-MARYLAND
-Maryland is squarely back on the bubble, but will that loss to Morgan State come back to haunt them? UNC is still a one seed, for now.
RADFORD-VMI
-Radford clinched the Big South title with a win.
UTAH STATE-ST. MARY'S
-Pisces will be happy. He's championed St. Mary's the whole way, and now they are back in. That was a statement sent to the selection committee beating a ranked team without Patty Mills.
KANSAS STATE-IOWA STATE
-Still holding firm on my bubble after a most unconvincing win in Ames.
WASHINGTON-USC
-Good recovery by the Huskies after a tough loss to UCLA, and USC shot themselves in the foot by surrendering a late lead in this one. They are a good ways out, now.
ARKANSAS-SOUTH CAROLINA
-The Gamecocks averted disaster at home by beating Arkansas in overtime. A loss could have put them near the exit door.
AUBURN-LSU
-Look for LSU to be a 5 seed in tomorrow's bracket update. Pisces is projecting a bit farther down the road and has them as a 4. Could well be the result in the very end. Any higher would be asking a lot and could require a very difficult win out situation.
FLORIDA STATE-VIRGINIA TECH
-I wanted to drop the Hokies, and might depending on tomorrow's results. That win over Wake can't continue to hold them above water by itself.
OKLAHOMA-TEXAS
-Oklahoma holds as a one seed for the time being, pending Blake Griffin's concussion. That's a bad injury and dangerous to rush back. We'll see. Could be a quick drop-off for the Sooners. Texas, meanwhile, is now a guaranteed lock and will move up from 8 in my new projections.
BYU-UNLV
-A good win for the Rebs, but that loss to Wyoming was too severe a blow. Still out, and plenty work to do. BYU was an 8 for me, look for them to drop a line.
PEPPERDINE-GONZAGA
-Gonzaga clinched yet another WCC regular-season title. Mark Few has a great thing in Spokane, and they could be a frightening draw for anyone come March.
Did I miss anything?

Likely happens, but Gtown and the finale should worry Cards fans, as Morgantown is no picnic.
For L'ville to get a 1 seed, they're going to need either Pitt or U Conn to falter as the committee will not allow three #1's from the same conf.
If L'ville runs the table and gets to the finals of the Big East tourney, they should get a 11. I am going to predict an upset in M'town, though, giving the Cards a tied for 2nd place finish in the Big East.

Nope. ANd UNLV is 50/50 right now. Way to close to call. I have SDSU winning the auto bid. If that happens, UNLV likely at home. They beat L'ville, though, but so did WKU...so they do not get immunity for such a feat.
