Yes. But search attendance from 1996 (year after new stadium opened) until 2008 or so. Huge drop off until they got good again. Lived in NE my whole life. The only team I have heard about for 40 plus years consistently is Sox.

Its bruins first in the city, Red Sox in all of New England this the demand for tickets is higher but in the city its Bruins first. I was at AFC. Title game and during all fourth quarter when Ravens had it one crowd in unison was yelling Lets Go Bruuuuins!!!!

Boston is one of the few great sports towns. They really get behind the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, and Celtics.

Yeah, a big part of it is the shitty ownership for a long period of time. From what I have gathered, the Bruins were huge in the 70s/ 80s and took a major dip with the bad ownership. I haven't lived here when the Celtics or Patriots were bad; interest has been pretty high for them as well. But Sox are first for sure.

Boston is just a sports town.

This.

Celtics: 1st in NBA with 17 championships
Bruins: 4th in NHL (2nd among US teams) with 6 Stanley Cups
Red Sox: Tied for 4th in MLB with 7 WS
Patriots: Tied for 6th in NFL with 3 Superbowl victories

So they are top 5 in championships in 3/4 of the Major sports and top 10 in all 4.

One of my best friends and fraternity brothers is from Boston, and he's always told me that Boston is a hockey town first and foremost.

The Bruins averaged a 6.3 Boston DMA ratings average this regular season in the NHL.

The Red Sox averaged 6.43 last year and they were awful.

Lots of Northern cities are like this. Chicago would take the Blackhawks over the Bulls any day of the week and it's not remotely close.
