Miles was unable to coach RP, and that whole fiasco is what started LSUs downfall.
Let’s be fair here. Poor QB coaching didn’t cause Perriloux to use a fake ID to get on the boat, or get into fights, or break any of the other team rules that ultimately got him tossed.
His problems were 100% between his ears and no one else’s.

If things had gone well for RP here off the field and he been given more opportunities on the field (not unrelated things IMO), LSU would have had multiple NCs under Miles.
All he had to do was hold it together for one more year. The job was his in 2008. He thougt he could come in and beat out Jamarcus and Flynn and start right away and that was never realistic. He was getting snaps in 07 and that still wasn’t enough for him to keep his head in straight. He was just impatient and immature at that time. I think that’s the bottom line.

Cecil Collins still out does both of them. Even for all his screw ups he still got drafted. He was Fournette 15 years before the fact.
