There are four teams that clearly stand out to me. They are the 1968 Colts, 1983 Redskins, 2001 Rams and 2007 Patriots. All of those teams were unstoppable offensively and were thrashing everybody coming into the game. They just all happen to lay an offensive egg in the biggest game of the season.

68 Colts (13-1)
#1 total defense
#1 scoring defense
#2 total offense
#2 scoring offense

83 Redskins (14-2)
#11 total defense
#11 scoring defense
#1 total offense
#1 scoring offense

01 Rams (14-2)
#3 total defense
#7 scoring defense
#1 total offense
#1 scoring offense

07 Patriots (16-0)
#4 total defense
#4 scoring defense
#1 total offense
#1 scoring offense

What about teams who didn't make the Super Bowl like the 98 Vikings and 06 Chargers?
Many Steel Curtain vets say the best Steeler team was in '76

But they lost in the playoffs to the Raiders

#5 in total offense
#5 in scoring offense
#1 in total defense
#1 in scoring defense

They did lose 4 games though.

Better to choke on the SB , or NFC championship over having paper bags over your heads

5 rings > 1

Man, y'all make pulling for the Saints when the Cowboys aren't playing harder by the day.
Just another version of lil brother syndrome. Good grief

They started 1-4 and then won 9 straight with 5 shutouts and gave up just 138 points the whole year. An argument can be made that it was the best defense ever. They lost the afccg to the raiders without their two starting running backs. But imo the best losing team was the 1983 redskins.

They've choked to the tune of 5 Super Bowls and 8 Conference Titles.

The Saints franchise can't exemplify choking because they were the symbol of complete ineptitude.

The best super bowl losers I've seen are

1) 07 Pats
2) 14 Seahawks
3) 01 Rams
4) 04 Eagles
5) 05 Seahawks

I'm really in no position to judge super bowl teams before the year 2000.
