Not true.
And not having this playoff like the way you're suggesting is why the BCS is a good thing, UCONN had no shot at a title.

not in a 4 team playoff, or any playoff that puts teams in based on play during the year

the BCS didn't create "the stage"
the producer schools/conferences did

Yes, they did. Giving them a playoff berth is giving them a clean slate. It doesn't matter how poorly they performed in the regular season. They win the games, they win the title.
