The SEC was the one who wanted to do that for monitary reasons. That's their issue

Actually its the Pac 10's issue cause they are being left out in the cold right now and for good reason.

Bull fricking shite. The SECCG has helped our teams a ton more than it has hurt us.

Well this could be true but my goal is still to put college football with a perfect system... the perfect system must start with having conference championships for all conferences IMO.

ts not fair that other conference champions have to play a tough 13th game on a neutral site to win the championship and other conferences DO NOT. Pretty damn simple.
Nobody is forced into such games. Schools choose their conference affiliations, and conferences choose their own championship procedures. To call it unfair is factually incorrect.

I agree but still shouldn't stop you from making appropriate changes.

That makes about as much sense as to say that if LSU gets four CBS games this year, so should every other SEC team.

No...it really isn't the same thing at all.

Having to play Florida every year out of the east just to please traditional rivalries like Auburn/Georgia and Bama/Tennessee is just stupid.

Same with the Rose Bowl. There are things that just won't change anytime soon.

If LSU has to play Florida (just as an example) every year, so should every other SEC team.

If LSU loses to a 8-4 UF team, that's their own fault. If LSU loses to this year's UF team, but Bama doesn't have to play them, chances are that Bama will play them eventually. Really, the SEC is all about taking care of your business in your own division. If we go 5-0 in the West, we should be fine almost every year despite playing UF.

Next year there is a pretty glaring disadvantage though. We play UGA and UF, while Bama plays USC and Tenn. Is it unfair? Yes. We can't be pussies about it though. A young Bama team went in a whooped UGA and had UF on the ropes all day. You have to go out and handle your bidness.

Who cares? The system is quite honestly doing fine.

If it's hurting the Pac-10's chances in BCS games, which it might be considering how much it has helped the SEC, why is it unfair that the Pac-10 uses a different system?

Everybody who reads this thread should read the quote above at least 100 times before opining.

It hurts them this year but if USC was to go undefeated in 12 games... they are not obligated to play that 13th game that Alabama had to play this year.

+1

The six SEC teams who have an "unfair" advantage because they have to play a "tough" permanent rival every year:
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Louisiana State
Tennessee

The six SEC teams who have won at least one SEC championship since expansion:
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Louisiana State
Tennessee

If Arkansas, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt have an unfair advantage, what's it getting them?

The SEC was not obligated to expand to 12. With all due respect, I don't see your point as particularly valid.

Dude, 3/4 of the PAC10 being absolute dogshit hurts the PAC10, not their championship system. The best thing that could happen for the PAC10 would be if Canada annexes Washington.

So? At best its a wash in the difficulty it helps them some season it hurts them others. Why try to fix a system that is working?

I think you should probably go back to lurking or posting on the Rant you've gotten in over your head.

Who said there was any magical number of how many conference teams there should be. I don't see anything that comes out of your mouth as relevant.

MOst of the time for the SEC championship game... you have to go beat a team that you have possibly played already.

Say what?

Not quite dude. Ask USC in the PAC 10 if they think the system is working. I'm not saying the system is completely broken, but its huge for some top 10 teams to have to play a 13th game on a neutral field against a very good opponent and others don't. I actually like the BCS and support it all the time... i just don't like some conferences not having a conference championship.

To play a conference championship game you must have 12 teams.

You're new to this MSB thing aren't ya?

The NCAA in 1987, when the SEC asked if they could stage a regular season championship game, to which the NCAA replied "not unless there are 12 teams."

I hope that answers your question.

It's completely fair to the SEC because the SEC went out of its way (and west of the Mississippi, even) to stage a championship game.
