Look it up? They didn’t put him on scholarship because they had Davis Webb and Mahomes in front of him on the depth chart after he got hurt. Why would a coach give a walk-on, who was third string and only started because of injuries a scholarship?

pretty ridiculous that shitty Texas Tech had all those QB's together at once.
Mahomes is a 1st round bust live in the flesh, Webb was drafted in the 3rd round and Baker is a future 1st round bust waiting in the wings.
Two 1st round QB's and a 3rd round QB all on the same roster. Insane.

He left in December. There was plenty of time to give him a scholarship for the following year. You really don’t know what you are talking about.
Bottom line is he was pissed about not being named the starter for the bowl game most likely and quit out of spite. Glad it worked out for him but his temper and bad decisions will catch up to him eventually. Hope I’m wrong.

He was supposedly told they would put him on a scholarship that next Fall and he said frick that, he plays most valuable position in the game why should he have to wait? He held all the leverage. No different than a free agent in the NFL.
He wasn’t starting at Tech and he thought he should have been and he was clearly right.

He would have been offered if he didn't quit. Glad it worked out for him.
