The "Rivers is a cancer" line is yet another IC fabrication. Rivers was one of the only good things about this year's team, but he wasn't that great.
He certainly wasn't a difference maker like Elton Brand or Kyrie (who the Rivals and Scout guys never appreciated). He was the best player on this year's squad, and not nearly as much a ball hog as fans claim. Just look at Prince Harry/The Black Falcon/I'm That Dude/Robotic Michael Jordan With None of the Substance's points per shot as a freshman, along with his A/T ratio and usage. Rivers compares favorably in every aspect besides free throw shooting.
However, Rivers has tons of problems, and that's why I am surprised to see him leave. He is 6'4" 190 pounds. That is undersized for any position other than the point, and he is not a point. His passing isn't intuitive, his pick and roll game isn't any good, his defense is only adequate, his free throw shooting is 66 percent (15 percent below where it should be). His outside range is fine and he has a great first step. That's it.
Why he's going pro, I don't understand. He must really hate the incredibly useless Dawkins and Curry even more than we all thought.

I don't think Duke fans will miss his ball hogging skills.
Exactly. Dude was one of the most talented players on the floor but absolutely the most selfish player I have ever seen. Good riddance.
He's a ball-stopper. I watch every game and all he did was come in and kill our offensive chemistry.

What a horrible decision.
Where is projected to go? The Celtics?

Thank You for admitting it!!! Damn, Duke has good talent just didn't mesh AT ALL and Rivers clearly was meant to be the guy that made everything work and it was the exact opposite.

He definitely should reconsider this decision. Definitely needs more time to develop his game at the collegiate level.

ESPN had a mock draft earlier this week and had him in the teens. They got feedback from GMs the next day and they said most GMs considered that too low.
