It’s also a cop out to say things like “continue to develop in Europe”. Europe is a big place where most leagues fall well below MLS in quality.

Europe and it isn't even close.
The guy is a significant player on one of the best teams in the world right now.
It would be absolutely stupid for him to come to MLS at this point of his career.
