Kirby Yates is going to be called on in a postseason game in high leverage spots… let that sink in.

Yeah… this bullpen is a huge problem.

Spare me the stats from what they’ve done from April-July, they have been pure arse for the last month and a half. AJ has been the only one who has been getting outs consistently in that stretch, and even he is walking too many guys.

It’s really bad right now and it will seriously suck if that’s the reason one of the best teams this franchise has ever had will come up short in the postseason because we have a bunch of bullpen arms that can’t throw strikes and when they do, the other team has an average EV of 90+ MPH on them.

Damn. Are we gonna be the next best-regular-season-team-limping-into-the-playoffs? Because shite.

Nah, we’re doing what we can to let the Marlins sneak into the playoffs.

Last 5 games, we’ve been outscored 20-3 in the 7th, 8th and 9th innings.

That is literally the worst time to have that bad of a run differential

Prior to yesterday's game CodifyBaseball tweeted out Earned Runs given up by pullpens over the previous 10 games. Braves were next to last with 25 (Marlins were last with 27). They've given up 11 in Miami...and counting.

We hit 4 home runs today and lost by 6 runs… think about that.

In our last 5 losses over the last week, we’ve scored 5+ run in 4 of them.

This is just our version of leeching. Getting the bad shite out of their system now. It's part of the plan.

We may need Waldrep to stabilize the pen and I’m not even joking.

He’s starting for Mississippi tonight.

Was curious what the August/September numbers were for our main bullpen arms.

First the good:

AJ Minter 1.47 ERA, 1.09 WHIP – 18.1 IP
Pierce Johnson 0.98 ERA, 0.87 WHIP – 18.1 IP

Was actually shocked to see that Johnson has logged roughly the same amount of innings as everyone else because it has felt like we haven't used him as much as the others. I really think he deserves to bump one of Jimenez or Iglesias out of the first choice 7/8/9 arms.

Now for the bad:

Joe Jimenez 5.14 ERA, 1.28 WHIP – 14 IP
Raisel Iglesias 2.50 ERA, 1.22 WHIP – 18 IP (9.00 ERA, 2.20 WHIP – 5 IP in September)
Kirby Yates 3.12 ERA, 1.21 WHIP – 17. 1 IP (7.94 ERA, 1.41 WHIP – 5.2 IP in September)

Also add that Yates has walked 14 hitters in this timeframe, which is the only of the five relievers listed that has double digit walks. He simply cannot be trusted in the postseason. With that said, he somehow has a lower WHIP than Iglesias and Jimenez which is alarming considering those two are usually who we are going to in the 8th and 9th innings. Like I said, unless those numbers somehow improve over the final two weeks, Johnson needs to replace one of those two.
