Good lord, Max. First innings have not been kind to him early this season.

Home run in only 1 of 30 MLB stadiums

With the exception of the first game of the season, the Astros either score 3 runs or less, or they score 8 runs or more. At 6-13 you can guess which of these is more common.

Huh. I get the Crawford boxes, but that one didn't look THAT cheap.

He’s not as sharp, but he as also had some bad luck. It’s a scoreless 1st inning in any other park

Solo home runs from someone like Yordan I get. It’s baseball and shite happens. The Braves have the offense, usually, to overcome shite like that. It’s the high pitch count and the inability to get folk out that is worrisome. His body language just looks ‘off’ from when he is dealing. I can’t quantify that, but after watching him pitch for years it just seems off. I hope he ‘gets right’ sooner than later.

Two straight innings where we stranded a runner on 2nd with no out. Our situational hitting has been arse except for the two 9th innings

Its wild what a year will do. I was in Atlanta for the Houston series this time last year and assumed the booing was an Ozuna chant. Overhead people sitting near us explain they were actual boos. Dude has flat out raked since then.

Marcell was so bad early last year; glad they kept him when I would have admittedly cut him.

He has been the best hitter in baseball since May 1 last season. It's unbelievable.

ETA: Coming into today, here are his stats over his last 142 games (starting in that May Miami series last year)

.305/.372/.618 (.990 OPS), 45 HR, 120 RBI, 31 doubles

That seems good.

Maybe literally worst to first. Don’t remember anything like it.

You can’t have a non-competitive pitch on a 3-2 count. It just wastes all of those other pitches thrown.

I still contend he wasn’t that bad from a process standpoint in April last year. He was hitting the ball hard, just had not much to show for it. He was striking out a lot though.

When May came, it was a perfect storm of cutting down the K rate and those hard hit balls started becoming more hits than outs
