I think Tampa still tarps sections in the upper deck during the regular season. I read something a couple of months ago that they were opening some sections for a series with the Yankees. They started so well.

Yeah I've sat right behind home plate there for relatively cheap on weekends against good opponents lol

Those teams are either in first place(yes I know Minny is 2 games above .500 and the ALC is awful but they are still a first place team) or a WC team. The Marlins have the 2nd best record in the NL and the Dbacks 3rd best.

Nice troll attempt to try to downplay just how good the Braves are.

The Braves are 31-17 vs teams over .500. The Rays are 32-22 and those are the only teams at least 10 games over .500 in that stat. (The Marlins are 21-22 for the record)

I think we're learning that what was supposed to be our "easy stretch" turned out to be a bunch of teams that are contending for playoff spots.

If those teams will falter down the stretch remains to be seen, but they are good teams right now and we have overcome them. I mean, the Reds were on a 12 game winstreak and we won 2 straight against them. The Marlins were hot before we sept them and were hot after we swept them.

The two small, very minuscule concerns I have with this team on a macro level is that we're 1-5 at home against the Astros and Dodgers and I'm also worried if we are worn out by September if we keep up this pace.

I'm almost hoping we wrap up the division by the end of next month/early September and we can get guys some days off.

I thought the Marlins would market correct due to their run differential but they might not. The Reds and Dbacks are both legit.

I'm not too worried about that Houston series or LA b/c that was when the pen was in flux and AJ was closing games and was clearly out of his comfort zone.

You followed that up by saying this

quote:

" against mostly dumpster fire teams "

So either you're talking out of both sides of your mouth or you are being you and trolling. Which one is it?

Would you put any amount of money on any of those teams even with crazy good odds to win the WS?

I guess the DBacks and maybe the Marlins would be good enough lotto ticket options at the right odds. I don't really see any of the AL teams we played during this stretch beating Houston, Tampa, or the Yankees.

I think its objectively a fairly light stretch of games. 8 of our oppenents are in the bottom half of the league in run differential. Of those 8 only Philly and the Mets have a positive differential, and the Mets are only at +1.

Are you saying it's harder to beat the Mets than the Reds right now?

If so, that's a pretty ridiculous statement.

The Mets and Reds are separated by 8 runs, which isn't a lot when you consider that the average will be around 700 runs scored for the entire year. So over the course of the entire season I think those teams are probably be pretty similar, but in October we aren't gonna remember that "oh the reds were hot back then!" if they have a similar record to the Mets at the end of the year.

And some teams will out perform that stat, others it'll catch up to them. Maybe the reds surprise me and make the WS. I just think Run Diff is probably the best stat at "cutting through the bullshite" once you're a couple of months in.

Now do the Reds run differentials since Elly came up.

Good thing I said "I" meaning "me", the person you're replying to, think that. Didn't say its a widespread belief.

This is a Braves thread, people like you think the Braves are the best at everything all the time and you can't say anything anyone could even somewhat perceive as negative, I get it. Austin Riley 2022 MVP, right?

This is the first true statement you've made in this entire discussion.

I'm sure its much, much better. If it sustains, the stat will show that at the end of the year.

You still didn't answer if you would take any of them to win it this year.

I wouldn't, but I don't know if that's me subconsciously not taking them because of who they have been historically in the last 5-10 years, which really doesn't have much to do with what is happening now.

For example, the Dodgers metrically are a very mediocre team, but because they are "The Dodgers" and have been beating the West into submission for the last decade plus, in my mind, I'm probably more worried about them than I am the Reds. That's probably misguided on my part.

So since I said I'd throw some down on Miami and Arizona, in a way I'm higher on our recent opponents than you are

ETA: but yeah I'm 100% with you, I probably need to adjust my priors as well
