Oh.. and how about freaking Chris the Birdman Anderson? I thought it was more likely he would be dead at 36 than still around the NBA.

Nolan Ryan is the most amazing by a mile.
He was a rookie in 1966 and retired in 1993. 27 years he pitched in the MLB.
His last all-star appearance was 1989, was ERA champion in 1987, and was the strikeout leader in 1990.
That's 23, 21, and 24 years after his debut. That's crazy!
And the reason why it is so unexpected is that he threw so hard. Starting pitchers who throw hard generally have shorter careers.

Kyle Korver stuck around longer than I expected and found a perfect fit in Atlanta.

It will be interesting to see how LeBron goes out.
i think lebron will transition find into an "old man game" b/c he's always been such a willing and top shelf passer

in terms of total career? maybe (howe likely wins b/c his sport is so much more demanding)
but this is more about marginal guys or former stars who slipped that stuck around for a long time
nazr mohammed is the perfect example. he was never great and some years he was downright awful, but he's still getting minutes

I'm surprised Glenn Davis has lasted this long in the NBA especially how big he's gotten over the past few years.

OP never mentioned that we are only talking about marginal players...

When I think of Boris Diaw, I think of Beethoven and the age of the Romantics. This guy has it all.

Matt Jones in college. Found an NCAA loophole to play for 13 years at Arkansas.
Although he was much better than marginal.

Paolo Maldini played 25 years for AC Milan at a world-class level. He was 39 years old when he won European defender of the year. I think his most impressive stat is that he retired with only one red card in his entire career, considering the amount of games he played at his position and the speed he lost in later years.
He was impressive. Despite not being an Italy fan seeing him and his team get jobbed at his last WC in 2002 was sad

Brett Favre is also a good answer when you consider the position he played and his style of play. He took a beating consistently from day 1 in the NFL, yet started every week and had arguably his best season in his last full year at age 40. If you had told me that in 1995 I would have said you were crazy
