In golf there is no real backdoor - each player plays the same course and the same number of holes...just because you tank on the 72nd instead of the 63rd hole is somewhat meaningless...just more exciting.
I have seen a guy leading a tournament then make a 10 on his 11th hole of the day, a par 4 - at that point, you are fighting to claw back into the top 10..I guess if that happened on the 72nd hole, it would be a bit more painful!
