The present Astros ownership obviously isn't trying to win right now
With what McClane did to the farm system, what's the alternative?

other teams shouldn't have to share revenue with a club like Houston that isn't even trying this year
With the FA crop this year, if love to hear the alternatives.
Someone on the Houston blog brought up today....Joe Saunders, Joe Blanton, or Edwin Jackson would have made the pitching staff at least resemble a staff.
Blanton and Saunders both have over 5 ERAs.
Jackson is 6+.
These guys were the other options available to pick up for Houston. So I ask you....you sign guys like them? ....or do you save the money for later down the road?

Btw, there's a nice postmortem write-up on Postolos' time with the Astros on Crawfish Boxes that highlights his numerous blunders on the business/management side of things. Not all of those blunders can be attributed to him, but it still paints a picture of incompetence/cluelessness.

You know this for fact? Because I don't think you're wrong, I know you are massively wrong. If you work for them or have gotten ahold of their financials for this year, then my apologies.

Here or on the Houston blogs I have gotten no response to what would be the alternatives. All I get are guys still whining about Crane folding and giving in to Selig and moving to the AL.
Wasn't that the terms of the sale, basically? Move to the AL and the sale will be approved. If not, no bueno.
So, as I've been asking here and all over some Houston blogs, people who are claiming that Luhnow and Crane aren't doing enough, what are the alternatives? From where you are sitting, what were the Astros in position to do to "field a competitive team?"
Because with this forgotten farm system, there was a split rly no talent just 2 years ago and ranked dead last in the majors as far as minor league talent goes.
Anyone? Bueler?
I'm not trying to be a smartass, if just like to know which way the Astros could have gone to get to be a 70 win team this year. What money could have been spent and on who?
