Something that PFF would always discuss in the offseason was how weird the Colts roster construction is. They already extended Leonard to a mega deal and are about to do the same with Nelson. These 2 moves along make their roster construction very questionable, because off-LB and interior OL are not positions that you should invest that heavily in. They also invested top draft capital in a RB last year and they still have major holes at premium positions (edge and CB specifically...with QB a likely).

I get the value replacement argument but every team in the league would resign both Nelson and Leonard to a long term deal and the colts have been sitting on a pile of cap space for a couple of years now

They are a mess because Carson Wentz can’t decide if he’s hurt or not and also stinks.

they traded a 1st rounder for him.

They are certainly worse off without Luck but they went 11-5 last season with Phil Rivers on his last legs.

what was crazy is that Phil Rivers didn't get sacked in the playoff game @ Buffalo.

they outgained Buffalo in yardage and won time of possession

and they didn't turn the ball over and still lost

Buffalo didn't turn it over either but the Colts checked a lot of important boxes in that game and still couldn't do it.

I mentioned a couple years ago they have the weirdest roster in the league especially at the skill positions

Patriots have taken the cake there for years IMO. Michael Pittman would be the best outside receiver that NE has had since Randy Moss, which is absurd to think about
