Anyone think that the XFL could lure some high ranking high school players?

Unlike the NFL, the XFL doesn't have the requirement of three years removed from high school.

A couple hundred thousand dollars a year until they can become NFL draft eligible isn't too bad.

Yeah, it would obviously have to become an established league but just throwing it out there.

If they're gonna take the bumps and bruises why not get paid in the process?

You are taking a very naive approach to assume the top guys aren’t already getting paid.

It’s a high risk to even explore that road because you can wreck your eligibility by talking to the XFL.

Best case XFL can target would be transfer portal guys who are a year away from draft eligibility

Curious as to the pay scale they use.

I could see some running backs going early considering you could argue they’re playing for “free” for a good bit of their best years.

For 500k a year? Yes. 100k a year? No.
Just depends on what pay scales are and what they can guarantee in the event the league folds

I feel like there is a market for second-tier football in the offseason. AAF seemed to be doing OK until the owner ruined it. Plenty of able guys not quite cut out for the NFL who could make 200k.

that don't mean it was... And it folding only made it harder for future leagues

I think some highly rated guys who can’t qualify may take that route. Guys like Noel Divine or J. Powe May take that route.

Some of the big time basketball recruits are going to Australia this year than going to the NCAA. I could see some football players trying that route. Not many, but some.

If they're good enough somebody will take the tests for them.

They only have to do it for a year and the Australian league won't be as bleak as minor league football is.

Good in theory, but what college star would forego a chance at millions in the NFL for a couple hundred K in the XFL?
