Spoke with a well known LA trainer this morning and he isn’t expecting many changes at the Fairgrounds this fall. He thinks the purses will hold steady. I hope he’s right. I have just been expecting Churchill to drop them.

They will get the regulars (Asmussen, Cox, Sharp, etc) Don't see a significant increase in purses. Its getting worse every year.

I just dont understand how this happens when we have some of the best state breeding rewards around.

You do know that when you run your LA bred out of state and it hits the board 1-2-3 you are not getting that 25% breeders award? Have to run in state to get that 25%

There's a few people that need to get out of LA racing all together and then maybe this state and FG can start to get better purses. Until then its a struggle with a few people trying to control Louisiana racing.

The breeding is good. The racing product, purses , and those running the tracks absolutely stink. FG racing secretary is a good guy. Its the clown slot machine manager, who is a yes man to CD that is the problem

He has to be a yes man if not they fire him. He is not what’s wrong with FG

Biggest longshot I ever hit was a horse named Halo's Call at Louisiana Downs. Paid something like 25-1. I happened to meet the owner a few months later and he said the horse was just entered for the exercise and they had no idea he was going to run a big race. They weren't even at the track that day.

He ain't helping the cause. I have said a million times, he walked arse backwards into that job, unqualified, and isn in over his head. A certain washed up Louisiana jockey pretty much got him that job. Trust me, many trainers don't respect him at all.

His hands are tied. He works for Churchill he has to do what they say. I've never had a bad run in with him every time i've asked him something he's answered my question truthfully.

I dont know the man, but i do know Churchill acts like the Gestapo. When they take over something, it is their way or no way.

Y’all just chasing money now.
We want to win money for sure, but that is not the main focus at this point. Getting her use to that stiff competition is our main focus.
Ok its time to use some common sense.
Drop the horse you are not doing him any favors.
Fire your trainer for even picking this spot out.
Get him ready for FG Maiden 20K.

yup. my stepfather raced thoroughbreds and quarter horses all over the country at tracks. I got in 1 winners circle picture as a kid. loved it.
he raced all over. golden gate fields , keeneland, ruidiso downs, santa anita, hollywood park, turf paradise in phoenix. wyoming downs, you name it.
never made it to saratoga or hialeah that i recall. so many old race tracks no longer exist
